xi.314pgs+adv.Very Good condition red cloth hardcover, decorated boards, gilt lettering to spine. No additional printings indicated on copyright page. Brown endpapers.This is an original vintage edition, not a modern reprint. Light rubbing to cloth at spine ends and corners and general surface of boards and spine, a few small stains and shadows on upper and lower text block edges. Binding sound, text clean and unmarked, illustrated with black and white drawings throughout. A small bookplate and signature of a previous owner on front endpapers indicate that at around the turn of the last century (late 1800's, early 1900's) this book once belonged to H.N. Conser, a professor at central Pennsylvania College, organizer of The Natural History Society and author of scientific works such as The Food of Plants and Paraffin and Collodion Embedding.
